Happy Thanksgiving From O'Donnell Law Center

Thanksgiving is a unique and special holiday that is near and dear to our hearts. Family and friends come together during this time to give thanks for all of the many blessings we have received throughout the year. It’s a time where we can take a step back from our busy lives and think about what we are truly thankful for. O’Donnell Law Center would like to thank all of our clients and friends for their support and we are thankful for the community we are able to serve. To get us into the Thanksgiving spirit, here are some fun facts about this delicious holiday.

The first Thanksgiving was 3 days long.
This is a change from our Thanksgiving today which only lasts a day. Governor William Bradford had organized the Thanksgiving feast and invited the Plymouth colonists’ Native American allies. However, the celebration continued when the Wampanoag Indian guests joined the Pilgrims.

There’s a turkey help hotline.
The Butterball Turkey Talk-Line answers about 100,000 calls each season. So, if you have questions about cooking your turkey, there’s a hotline you can call!

Only male turkeys gobble.
That’s right, female turkeys don’t actually gobble. Male turkeys are called gobblers because of the sound they make. Female turkeys make a cackling noise instead.

The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade looked much different.
When Macy’s first started their Thanksgiving Day Parade, there weren’t any balloons. Instead of balloons, the parade consisted of animals from the Central Park Zoo.

About 46 million turkeys are cooked for Thanksgiving each year.
Turkey is the choice for most people when it comes to the main course on Thanksgiving – it’s tradition! Many people also serve a turkey on Christmas. About 22 million turkeys are cooked on Christmas.

The busiest day of the year for plumbers? Black Friday.
Because of all the food, Roto-Rooter reports that kitchen drains, garbage disposals, and toilets require more attention the day following Thanksgiving.

We hope that you have a great Thanksgiving spent with the ones that you love. Fill up on a Thanksgiving feast and reminisce about the things you are thankful for. We would love to hear what you’re thankful for this year! Leave us a comment below or on our Facebook page. Happy Thanksgiving!
