O'Donnell Law Center : Lake of the Ozarks

I consider myself a “local” here at Lake of the Ozarks. In 2004 my mother moved my sister and I to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, to be closer to family. I graduated from Camdenton High School in 2010. After graduation, I went into the workforce holding positions such as reservationist, server, and receptionist, eventually going on to manage a winery. After my daughter, Emmalyn, was born in 2014, I took a year off from work. I reevaluated my career path and decided to pursue my passion for education and work towards becoming an Elementary School teacher. This fall, I will start my senior year at Central Methodist University and in Spring of 2019, I will complete my student teaching. This September will mark my 2 years working at O’Donnell Law Center. I have always had a passion for helping others and a desire to expand my knowledge in various subject areas. This is a holiday that honors motherhood and it is observed in many different forms throughout the world. The weather this weekend is going to be beautiful and there are many great events going on around the Lake of the Ozarks to celebrate that special role model in your life. Mother’s Day Mother’s Day was essentially founded by Anna Jarvis in 1908. It didn’t actually become an official U.S. holiday until 1914. Later down the road, Jarvis denounced the holiday’s commercialization and tried to remove Mother’s Day from the calendar. This Saturday is Cinco de Mayo and there will be a lot of activities going on around the Lake of the Ozarks. While Cinco de Mayo is great for drinking and spending time with friends and family, it is a representation of so much more. The fifth of May is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s victory over France in 1862. In recognition of this cultural event, O’Donnell Law Center would like to share information about Cinco  de Mayo and what’s going on around the Lake this Cinco de Mayo weekend. Cinco de Mayo This holiday is a celebration of the Mexican army’s victory at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. Cinco de Mayo is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico. You’ve probably started to notice the Dogwood trees beginning to bloom around the Lake and they are just in time for the Dogwood Festival. From carnival rides and street food to the annual parade, this weekend is going to be a great weekend for the 68th Annual Dogwood Festival. The Dogwood Festival starts Thursday, April 19th and goes throughout the weekend. The event attracts locals and vacationers for a weekend full of fun! With the weather we’ve had this week, it may be hard to believe that spring is actually here. But it’s true! Tuesday, March 20th, was the day of the spring equinox. This means that both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres experienced an equal amount of daylight. For those that live in the Northern Hemisphere, this day marks the first day of the spring season. For those that live in the Southern Hemisphere, this marks the first day of fall. O’Donnell Law Center has some information regarding the spring equinox. The Amount of Daylight on Tuesday Equinox means “equal night”. During the equinox, most places on Earth will see an equal day and an equal night. 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night. Not every place will see the same amount of daylight. The difference in daylight depends on how the sunlight gets refracted as it enters Earth’s atmosphere at different latitudes.
